I wrote this plan on a Sunday night, which is already a warning sign. Sundays make me feel like a person who does burpees. By Tuesday I remember I am not that person. I kept the plan anyway, mostly because I liked the part where I got to shop for it.
Day One: Warm-Up
Task: put on real activewear instead of the gray sweatpants with the hole shaped vaguely like Ohio. Actual result: opened Old Navy’s site to “just look,” found the whole new Old Navy Sport line at 40% off everything, closed twelve tabs, bought a sports bra in olive because olive felt like a color a disciplined person would choose.
Day Two: Cardio (Theoretical)
The plan says twenty minutes. I did zero minutes. I did, however, hunt down the extra 10% code at checkout, which is its own kind of cardio — the frantic scroll to find the little box, the small victory when it actually applies.
Day Three: Rest Day, Allegedly
Rest days are when I do my best shopping. I found the $6 rack and bought three things I didn’t need and one hoodie I did. My sister’s kids are getting matching pieces from the Haunted Harvest set for their Halloween photos whether they asked for it or not — they did not ask for it. I asked for it on their behalf.
Week Two: Progressive Overload
That’s a real fitness term. I’m using it to describe how the number of leggings in my closet went from reasonable to concerning in fourteen days. New pair, waistband doesn’t roll down by hour three. That’s the whole review. The plan is working — just not the plan I originally wrote.
What Actually Happened, Day by Day
Monday: walked to the mailbox, counted it. Wednesday: tried on the new pieces in the mirror for eleven minutes, called it a mobility session. Friday: wore the leggings to get groceries and felt unreasonably powerful in the cereal aisle, like I was about to be asked to leave for being too fast.
I’m not going to pretend any of this built a body of steel. What it built is a drawer of stuff I actually reach for — and the 40% off everything is the kind of sale that doesn’t sit around waiting for you to finish overthinking it, so if your leggings have that dead-elastic problem, this is the week, not the week after.
