Item: One pair of Italian leather boots, Mimmu, purchased during the FW26/27 drop, the “Nothing Ordinary About Me” collection, which felt like an aggressive amount of main-character energy to put on a shoebox but here we are, it was right.
Date of first wear: Immediately. Tags off in the car. I have never once let a new pair of boots sit in the box “to break them in properly.” I do not believe that’s a real thing. I believe it’s a thing people say to feel responsible.
Please list all ways you have used this product:
Walking to places I could have driven to, so I’d have a reason to wear them longer. Standing in the kitchen doing absolutely nothing, just to see them in the reflection of the oven door. Explaining to my mother, at length, unprompted, why hand-finished leather costs what it costs. She did not ask.
Have you experienced any defects?
One. The left boot has started to feel slightly more “mine” than the right one, in a way that makes no logical sense but is, I’ve decided, just what happens when something is handmade instead of stamped out by the thousand. There’s a scuff near the toe from a curb I misjudged. I am keeping it. It is now part of the provenance.
Estimated hours of use to date: More than I’m willing to write down, because it would make clear how much of my week is now built around “will these boots work with this.”
Would you recommend this product to others?
The Last Chance section still has some of last season’s styles at a real discount if you want to test the theory before committing to full price, and the new Nora and Cheyenne styles are the ones I keep opening a new tab for. Here’s the collection if you want to see what a Tuesday-appropriate amount of drama looks like on a boot.
Signature: A woman who has now recommended these boots to three separate people, unprompted, at a birthday dinner, before anyone asked what she was wearing.
