MINUTES — Closet Committee, Emergency Session
Called to order: 8:14pm, kitchen table, laptop closed, phone very much not closed
Attendees: me
Absent: any actual decision-making ability
1. Call to order / statement of the problem
Chair (me) opened by noting that Thursday’s client dinner requires “actual clothes,” a category I have apparently let lapse since March. Motion to panic was raised and seconded immediately.
2. Old business
The grey blazer from two winters ago was reviewed and tabled indefinitely. Shoulders too soft for what’s apparently having a whole moment right now, a sharper, more structured shoulder line, very much a Look according to every account I follow that I definitely don’t take fashion advice from.
3. New business: the blazer situation
Committee reviewed a black blazer set with the sharper shoulder line currently sitting in cart. Discussion noted the site’s new-customer discount, 21% off, which the committee found difficult to argue with at 8:20pm on a Tuesday. Chair moved to approve. Motion passed unanimously (1-0, quorum technically not met, nobody else present to object).
4. Budget discussion
Free shipping and free returns were cited as mitigating factors in the decision to buy without trying it on first. Risk was deemed acceptable.
5. Action items
— Order the blazer set, arrives before Thursday if placed tonight
— Do not, under any circumstances, reopen the browsing tab before Thursday, the committee cannot be trusted with more time in there
— Wear the pearls already owned, this meeting does not authorize further jewelry spend
6. Adjournment
Meeting adjourned 8:31pm. No further business. Committee reconvenes whenever the next “actual clothes” emergency arises, which, statistically, is in about three weeks. (Affiliate link above, small commission for me if you order, your price doesn’t change.)
