I told myself I was just asking a question about sizing. This is a lie I tell every single time.
Me: hi! quick question about the floral wrap dress in my cart, does it run small
Agent Camila: Hello and welcome! Let me check that for you 😊 One moment please.
Me: take your time, I’m not going anywhere (I am already going somewhere, I am going to buy this dress)
Agent Camila: Thank you for waiting! That style runs true to size, most customers keep their usual size. Is there anything else I can help with?
Me: actually yes — is it part of a current sale? I saw a banner
Agent Camila: Yes! It’s included in our current flash sale pricing, and if you have the app, there’s an extra 15% off with no minimum spend.
Me: I do not have the app
Me: I now have the app
Agent Camila: 😄 Glad I could help! Anything else today?
Me: one more thing, does the order qualify for free shipping
Agent Camila: Orders over $15 ship free, and it looks like your cart already qualifies.
Me: great, that’s everything, thank you so much
Agent Camila: You’re so welcome, have a wonderful day! 💕
Me, to myself, four minutes later, still in the app: ok but what about the earrings
Here’s the part the transcript doesn’t show: I’d had that dress in my cart for a week, the kind of dusty-pink floral wrap that shows up under every #DateNightFits tag this month, and I genuinely was only messaging to check the size chart. The flash sale banner was just sitting there being persuasive. The app discount is real and stacks on top of whatever’s already marked down, which is how an $18 dress became a $15 dress became, somehow, forty minutes later, a small order that also contained two tops I opened in another tab and have no memory of adding.
I’m not going to pretend the fabric feels like anything other than what it costs. But for a dress I’ll wear four times this season and then rotate out, “true to size” and “actually free shipping” is doing more honest work than most eighty-dollar versions of the same silhouette.
If you also “just have a quick question,” here’s where mine started. Bring the app. You’ll need it in about six minutes.
