CASE #FW26-07 — OPENED 6:40 AM, STILL IN PAJAMAS
The subject: Mimmù’s new Fall/Winter 26/27 lineup, five suspects deep, one fairly predictable outcome. I’m laying out the evidence below because I already know how this ends and I’d rather you see the reasoning than just the receipt.
Suspect one — “Nora.” Western-style ankle boot, lateral zip, €249. Motive: I said “I’ll never wear a western boot” out loud back in March, and the universe apparently heard it as a dare.
Suspect two — “Anaïs.” Leather combat boot, €269. Alibi: none needed. Combat boots never need an alibi, they just show up and work with everything you own.
Suspect three — “Cheyenne.” Leather ankle boot, €229, the cheapest of the five and, infuriatingly, also the one I keep going back to look at. The cheapest one is rarely the one that wins. This might be the twist.
Suspect four — “Faith.” Suede, studded, €279. Too much boot for a Tuesday. Exactly enough boot for everything else on the calendar.
Suspect five — “Lacey.” Combat boot, €309, the most expensive of the lineup, sitting there quietly like it knows it doesn’t need to try hard.
Evidence considered: I already own — by my last actual count, done reluctantly, for a different post entirely — more boots than any one person reasonably needs. I know this. It has been established. It did not change anything about this morning.
Motive review: Mimmù makes these in Italy, hand-finished, and the leather on the pair I already own from them has softened instead of cracking after a full season of actual wear — which is the only kind of receipt that matters to me at this point, not the marketing copy, the actual leather, a year later.
Verdict: Cheyenne. €229. The cheap one. Case closed on my end — the full lineup is here if you want to run your own investigation (affiliate link, no extra cost to you, it keeps this blog’s lights on). There’s also a Last Chance section running right now for anyone whose case doesn’t require a fresh-collection boot — worth a look before you commit to full price like I apparently just did.
This case is closed. A new one will open the next time I “just look” at a shoe website.
