I don’t believe in tarot, exactly, but I do believe in doing a reading before every clothing purchase over a certain price, because it buys me thirty seconds to think, and thirty seconds is usually enough to talk myself into or out of something honestly. Tonight’s question: do I need another pair of jeans. Let’s see what the cards say.
Card One: The Wide Leg (upright)
This card represents change you didn’t ask for but will accept gracefully. My closet is, structurally, a monument to skinny jeans, and the cards are telling me that era is closing. Levi’s HK’s new Teardrop cut — wide through the leg, sitting higher at the waist — is the visual representative of this card, and upright means: yes, get it, your ankles have been trapped long enough.
Card Two: The Twisted Baggy (reversed)
Reversed cards mean “not for you, and that’s fine.” This one’s actually cut for men — Levi’s menswear line — and while I tried it on anyway out of curiosity, reversed here means I’m passing it along as a gift idea instead of buying it for myself, which is the rare tarot outcome that also solves a Christmas problem in September.
Card Three: The Old Faithful, Blue Tab (upright, at the bottom of the spread, meaning “foundation”)
Every reading needs a grounding card, and mine is the Blue Tab — the line that runs through basically everything Levi’s makes, men’s and women’s both. This is the card that says: whatever else you buy, this is the one you’ll still be wearing in three years. I paired mine with the Luna Relaxed Blazer, which the site’s currently pushing hard for fall, and it’s doing exactly the “effortless” thing the product photos promised, which almost never happens.
Sitting off to the side of the spread, not asked for but impossible to ignore: the Toy Story collection currently on the site, which I did not go looking for and now cannot stop thinking about. Nobody pulled that card. It pulled itself.
Practical notes, because a reading isn’t complete without logistics: buy two pieces and it’s 10% off, three and it’s 20% off, which means the blazer plus the jeans plus one impulse third item basically pays for its own existence. Orders over HK$800 ship free, and the jeans alone clear that without help.
I bought the Teardrop pair through this link — it’s affiliate, small commission for me, no extra cost to you, and the only reason I can justify spending this much time doing tarot readings about denim for a living.
Cards don’t lie. Or they do, constantly, but this time I wanted them to say yes, so we’re calling it settled.
