Free returns are a dangerous feature for someone like me, because they remove the one thing that used to stop me from buying things I wasn’t sure about: consequences. Here’s what almost went back this month, and why it didn’t.
1. The wide-leg denim
Almost returned because I stood in front of the mirror for a full minute unsure if I looked intentional or like I was wearing someone else’s pants. Kept it because by day three I’d worn it twice and stopped noticing, which is usually the actual test, not the mirror moment.
2. The ruffled top
Almost returned because ruffles read a little young on me, or so I decided at 11pm scrolling in bed. Kept it because it’s doing something interesting under a jacket that a plain top wasn’t, and nobody has commented on my age once, which was apparently never the risk I thought it was.
3. The Curve-line pants I sized up on a guess
Almost returned on principle, guessing sizes online is a personal least-favorite activity. Kept it because the guess was right, which happens approximately never, and I’m not questioning it.
The one I’m never sending back
The wide-leg denim, specifically this one, ordered during one of the site’s flash windows, deals rotate fast enough that I’ve stopped trying to screenshot them in time. Free shipping kicked in over $15, so I added the ruffled top to the same order mostly to clear that line, no regrets there either. There’s also a first-order app discount right now, 15% off with no minimum, which I only found out about after checking out and have not emotionally recovered from.
Return window’s still open on all three. Not using it. (Affiliate link on the denim, small commission for me if you buy, doesn’t change your price.)
